The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality of software used to control multi-axis Ultra Precision Machining Systems. The individual in this position will need an understanding of software to control real time motion systems. Specific responsibilities include the review of system requirements and tracking of quality assurance metrics playing an important role in the software development process. The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will design and execute automated tests for machine tool GUI and software components, as well as document hardware and software bugs to create an understanding of software development work flow contributing to the product life cycle. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary engineering project team consisting of software, electronics and mechanical engineers; who are responsible for designing and implementing new embedded and PC-based products, from concept to production.

Position Responsibilities:
• Design and execute automated tests for machine tool GUI and software components for state of the art motion control systems.
• Report and document hardware and software bugs, maintaining a database of qualitative information that will allow for tracking and trend analysis.
• Create, perform and document testing procedures for machine tool operations.
• Develop an understanding of software development work flow.
• Assist in defining system requirements and outline project plan and set key milestones.

Software Quality Assurance Engineer Job Requirements

Position Requirements:
Skills and Experience:
• Computer Engineering or BSEE preferred, or BS in Computer Science with demonstrated engineering training or aptitude
• Five or more years of demonstrated experience performing in a similar role
• Experience with Ranorex Test Automation Software or similar automated testing tools
• Linux and shell scripting
• Experience with C/C++ and programming, including experience with motion control, software.
• HTML and JavaScript programming
• Jenkins or similar task runner
• Working knowledge of electronic schematics & logic programming, instrumentation systems, networking protocols, inter-process communications, and real-time control systems
• Experienced in software quality systems, structured & object oriented development processes
• Knowledge of Windows programming helpful
• Solid working knowledge of Linux, Unix, OSes and programming tools.
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while focusing on the task at hand, and possess the ability to benchmark project progress to meet schedules and deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills to include excellent written and verbal communication.
